2010 IFTA Nominations Announced:
Hasan Everywhere
Based on the true story of the friendship between Israeli writer Dorit Rabinyan and the Palestinian artist Hasan Hourani, Andrew Kavanagh's short film 'Hasan Everywhere' has received an IFTA nomination for Best Animation at the 7th Annual Irish Film & Television Awards on February 20th. It is also a Finalist at the Digital Media Awards on February 25th. Between January 29th - February 11th, it will be screened in Dublin's IFI before the Film 'Adoration'. I was the Character Designer, Character Posing Artist as well as Character Animator.
November 2009 After working on the Garth & Bev TV series, it gets it's first run on
RTE 2's 'The Den' each day for three weeks from 23rd of November. Starting 25th of January 2010, you can also catch it on CBeebies.
February 2008 The popular new TV series Skunk-fu that I worked on as Storyboard Artist, has just won an IFTA Award (Irish Film & Television Academy Awards) in Dublin's Gaeity Theatre on the 17th February.It won Best Animation in the TV category.
January 2008 The feature film Dodo which I worked on while in Cologne last year premieres in Berlin, Germany on the 11th January. The movie is released in cinemas in German speaking regions on February 1st, 2008. Check back here for the European release dates.
October 2007 launches my completely new-look portraits website including a new web address, www.jportraits.net. This is a completely new site to the old one with lots of new portraits added to it. The 'Famous Faces' section is now complete with 12 new faces from such classic movie stars as Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. Also includes some famous Rock Stars. Hope you like it!
May 10th, 2007 saw the premiere of the Animated Feature film 'Das doppelte Lottchen' of which I did Key Animation Posing. It is based on the famous story by Erich Kaestner about twin girls who get separated from each other at a young age when their parents split and then accidentally meet each other while on a school trip and realise they happen to look a bit...well, 'similar!'. April 8th, 2007 first aired a brand new TV series called 'Dodo' on the German TV channel 'WDR'. Dodo is a little Urangutan who lives in the Jungle, his best friend is a Rhino and Dodo is quite partial to a spot of violin-playing! I was Storyboard Artist and Character Animator on Dodo which was created by the same studio that made 'The Little Polar Bear' movies (and also from the children's books by Swiss author Hans de Beer). A Feature film from 'Dodo' is also currently in production and will be released by Warner Bros in Germany, followed by an International release once it's translated from German into English.
